Hours of Enchantment is the second instalment of the stories and poems written by students of SMK St. Teresa. After the success of Hours of Imagination, Miss Susie decided it needed to be a recurring publication.
I was asked in 2014 to help in its final stages of proof-reading, editing and formatting once more, and to pass down my knowledge and train some of the younger students who were involved in it. As such, the correspondence emails between myself and Jolene, as well as Miss Susie were in abundance, as I was mostly in New Zealand while it was being prepped for publication.
As this book contained material that spanned over 3–4 years rather than just 2, there was much to edit and reformat, and I experimented heaps with its layout. Rather than separating the stories and poems like in the previous book, I had noticed quite a few themes within the entries submitted and decided to arrange the poems and stories by 'flow' and genre, rather than simply labelling them as prose or poetry. This took quite a while before we were all happy with its arrangement, but finally it was published in March 2015, to the excitement of all past and current students.
We printed 1,000 copies, and have sold around 700 of them so far. All proceeds will go towards the publication of the next book and furthering the English Language Society.
